Lady-boys in Phuket, Thailand

If you come to Phuket, your itinerary will surely include volleyball drills famous side shows by those Katoey's or lady-boys. Be ready for a rich sensory experience and a time of enjoyment as they go all out to please the weary customers and patrons or tourists. It is not just about making a living, it is about a way of life. It is not a sleazy existence but a means of maintaining a lifestyle as a lady-boy they would not be able to in their own native village. They wear very revealing dresses showing their ample silicone emphasized breasts while they sing and dance in their performances. Their perfect measurements and their beauty makes them the envy of many real women.

The men and the women watch transfixed as they go about their routines. In Malaysia, they are known as Maknyah's or the derogatory term 'pondan' or 'she-males' in the West.

It is sometimes difficult to discern who is real or who isn't. Some of them are indeed volleyball drills I believe God in his immense mercy is giving them a chance to live a life they should have been given since birth. They are obviously more ladies than men. Transsexuals or trans-gender are those who think they are a woman born in a man's body, while a transvestite is a man who likes to dress up like a woman.

In Thailand, being a lady-boy is less derogatory for example than in the west. They are accepted by society as the third sex and are not openly discriminated against. Many Thais have a slight stature, sport smaller bodies like a woman and quite hairless. Boobs are easier to fix but a sex change operation is more complicated, and expensive. My heart really goes out for them as they undergo it to reach their quest of being a real woman. Injection of female Hormones are also part of the routine they have to undergo.

One of the country's most famous lady-boys is Nong Toom, who went from champion Thai kick boxer to being a transsexual. A movie, Saitree Lex, was made about the true story of a lady-boy volleyball team known as the 'Iron Ladies' won the national championships in 1996 against the odds.

Girls Playing High School and Club Volleyball - Top 5 Tips on Tipping Effectively

This article offers advice on how to learn to "Tip" Effectively To Increase Your Options in Attack

a) If you get a trap set while hitting from the middle of the court- Soft Tip into the Block on purpose. Aim the Tip into the wrists and forearms of the opposing blockers so that the ball will bounce off high and back into your court so your teammates who are covering you have a chance to replay the ball. This sounds volleyball drills and it does take practice but it is possible to save a broken play by having the courage to actually aim the ball for the block. Elite indoor and beach players use this tactic to give themselves another opportunity to attack the ball.

b) Use the Tip to Use the Block. If you get a set close to the net and you are hitting on the left or right side of the court use the tip to score a point or sideout by aiming for the outside or external arm of the block and wipe the ball off the forearm of the block. This is a very difficult attack for the defense to pick up and almost always guarantees a point.

c) Be the Last Player to Touch the Ball if your Tip Turns into a Joust. In 99% of the cases if two players go up to contact a ball -usually one to block and one to tip and they both end up contacting the ball at the same time over the net-- the second one to touch the ball almost always wins because quite simply the second one has the advantage of going up and pushing over while the first one is coming down-on the way down while losing momentum. I hardly ever lose a joust because I wait and wait as long as I can before I put my hands on the ball and push over into the opposing court. It takes practice but its worth saving a tip gone bad.

d) Tip Deep. Many times hitters tip right behind the block because they have a big block they are intimidated by or because they can't see the open court. But if you talk to your teammates and ask them to tell you what's open in defense especially if the opposing team is playing man up defense with a person playing behind the block you will find open spaces deep in the court that you can tip to. In practice mix up your attack by dipping short, and tipping deep to the corners.

e) Tip on A Good Set. Elite players make themselves unpredictable and you can make yourself invaluable by learning to HIT all the bad sets hard and tipping when it's time for a change up on a good set. It keeps the defense off balanced because everybody in the gym will expect you to hit a beautiful set and to just save the bad ones. Do the opposite! Keep them guessing.

Jumper's Knee

How in the world did the term "jumpers knee" evolve?

Hmmm... lets see now. Because you jump a lot?

You are indeed a genius!

But that's not the only cause of this very common chronic overuse injury/condition.

We are in the final weeks of the winter sports season and some of the kids, particularly in the sport of basketball, have been battling volleyball drills knee for a few weeks while others have been battling it for a few years!

Years?

Absolutely! I see more chronic patella tendinitis (which is a more medically correct term for jumpers knee) in today's athletes than ever. As a matter of fact I don't remember anyone having this condition back in the day. I'm sure some kids had a bout or two with this but very few and not to the extend I see in today's athletes.

So what does jumping have to do with it?

Well, if you look at the very powerful quadriceps muscle group you'll notice that they insert into the proximal or top part of the patella or knee cap. At the distal or bottom part of the patella is where the true patella tendon begins. This patella tendon travels distally and inserts into the tibial tuberosity, that boney bump at the top and front of your tibia or shin bone. If you've ever had Osgood Schlatters disease as a kid you know exactly where this boney landmark is.

When the quadriceps forcefully contract they generate a considerable amount of force that runs down through the patella, patella tendon, and to volleyball drills insertion on the proximal tibia to extend the lower leg and allow jumping to occur.

Obviously in the "court sports", basketball and volleyball in particular, the amount of jumping is never ending. These activities also require considerable lateral movement which requires a constant stance of knees flexed and butt down. This ongoing "good stance" further places significant stress on these jumping components.

Another common cause of this condition that I frequently see is in weight training kids that do a lot of deep squats, power cleans, and clean and jerk lifts. Jumpers knee isn't just for jumpers anymore. The overload power lifting often seen in off season football weight training has it's fair share of cases also.

So does the whole patella tendon hurt?

I suppose it can. But far and away the largest site of jumpers knee pain is at the top of the patella tendon, at it's origin into the distal apex of the patella. And it is painful, debilitating, and very difficult to resolve through conservative treatments. I'm especially referring to kids that have chronic, long term symptoms for 1-3 years and have tried seemingly everything to get rid of it. And nothing seems to work.

So what kind of treatment does "everything" consist of?

First of all, giving advise on any injury or condition, you always have to start by seeing your local physician or physician of your choice first (if your insurance allows!). But please be advised that some of these physicians don't understand jumpers knee/patella tendinitis from a bad case of hemorrhoids and care about as much. They're simply going to give you prescription of drugs and hopefully, a prescription to a reputable Physical Therapist or Athletic Trainer. Do your homework on the therapist part prior to seeing the physician so you can assist in recommending the prescription.

Modify your activity level! This has to happen if you ever expect to get over anything! This doesn't necessarily mean completely stopping what you're doing but you must identify the specific activities that are causing you the pain and eliminate them from your daily routine. Competitors hate this but you're beating a dead horse otherwise.

Ice massage- 2, 3, 4, 5...... times per day 10-12 minutes each time. Get yourself some 7 oz. paper cups, fill them about full of water, and slap them in your freezer. Take one out of the freezer, peel the paper away from the top of the cup exposing a nice round piece of ice, and massage it the length of the patellar tendon. Very simple!

Cross Fiber Massage- this can be beneficial for reducing the amount of scar tissue forming at this stress site but will probably have limited benefits if your condition becomes overly chronic and long term.

NSAID's (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)- Over the counter Ibuprofen or Aleve. Your physician can prescribe stronger ones. I'm of the opinion that these medications, prescribed or OTC, should be used sparingly and primarily in a recovery process. Taking these substances just to get through another practice or workout is absolutely the wrong approach. You need to reassess your course of treatment if that's the case. I use certain prescribed anti-inflammatory medications for kids in need for what I call "spot duty" which is to help them perform as best they can toward the end of long and grinding seasons. But this is short term use, not long term. Always consult your physician regarding NSAID usage.

Ultrasound and/or Iontophoresis Treatments- These modalities can be of assistance but limited in my opinion particularly when this condition becomes long term chronic. It's safe to say that not a whole lot helps once you reach that level of inflammation with never ending physical activity.

Patella Tendon Straps- They seem to help some individuals and are simply fashion statements for others. Again, it's difficult to effectively overcome chronic inflammation without rest.

How About Surgery?

I believe surgery is a viable option for individuals that have battled this condition over a period of 2-3 years (or less) and have faithfully tried every conservative treatment to the best of their abilities. But I would caution you to find an orthopedist that has a proven track record of performing this procedure with positive results for the majority of his/her patients. No one bats a thousand but their record needs to show overwhelmingly positive results. It's not at all a complicated or largely invasive procedure but I've seen a few surgeries on some kids with chronic jumpers knee that shouldn't have been done. A least not the way they were done by orthopedists that clearly were "practicing". So again, do your homework!

So what is the best way to prevent jumpers knee?

Again, you must modify your activity level first and foremost to a comfortable level if you're going to overcome any overuse chronic inflammation problem but especially so with jumpers knee. Many of the kids I see with this condition have abused it for so long they have reached a point where conservative treatments simply have little if any positive results so they are often faced with the prospect of surgical intervention in hopes of attaining any meaningful results. Young kids in a growth spurt are going to be highly susceptible to overuse problems so exercise progressions and modifications are critical prevention components.

Proper pre-participation warm-up is crucial. The body needs to MOVE for 12-15 minutes to increase the core temperature and begin an efficient blood flow to the working muscles prior to any exercise regime but this is often neglected. Yes, a good 15 minute stretching program needs to take place after the warmup and at the end of vigorous activity during cooldown. There seems to be a growing opinion by some athletic individuals that stretching is a waist of time. I find this theory to be more prevalent in individuals and coaches that are too lazy to either warmup or cooldown. Overall flexibility in many of our nations youth is horrendous! So obviously I don't subscribe to the no stretch hypothesis.

Lastly, simply don't let chronic jumpers knee become chronic, especially in young teenage kids that are growing. The body does a great job of taking care of itself if you decide to take care of it. And do it earlier not later.

Help a kids' jumpers knee today! It's a Win! Win!

Preventing Eating Disorders in Gymnasts

Prevention volleyball drills the best way to halt disordered eating in its tracks, and the first item on the agenda is education. Athletes, parents, coaches, sports administrators, training staff and doctors need to be extensively informed about the risks and warning signs of disordered eating. The warning signs of an eating disorder are:

1.) An obsession with food, calories and weight.

2.) Constant vocal concern that one is fat, despite an average or below average body weight.

3.) Continuous and increased criticism of one's body.

4.) Secretly obtaining and consuming food.

5.) Feasting on huge amounts of food and then leaving to go to the bathroom.

6.) Eating large quantities of food contradictory with one's weight.

7.) Bloodshot eyes, particularly after exiting the bathroom.

8.) Enlarged parotid glands located at the angle of the jaw, giving the appearance of a chipmunk.

9.) Throwing up, or the smell of vomit in the bathroom.

10.) Weight going up and down over a short period of time.

11.) Severely limiting calorie intake.

12.) Undue use of laxatives, even when unnecessary.

13.) Excessive exercise even when not included in the athlete's training.

14.) Refraining from eating in front of other people.

15.) Constantly making disparaging comments about oneself immediately after eating.

16.) Wearing loose and shapeless garments.

17.) Moodiness

18.) Extreme interest in other people's eating habits.

19.) Too much consumption of water or diet soda.

If you become aware that your child or someone else may have an eating disorder, you have to approach the situation with a lot of tack. Anorexia or bulimia sufferers will most often than not, vehemently deny that there is something wrong, and that they have a problem. Let her know that you are worried about her symptoms of dizziness, constant fatigue and frequent distractedness. Use these symptoms as a way for her to seek help. Don't mention anything relating to bingeing or purging, or even eating disorders. Stress instead on your concern about their physical and mental health. Provide her with sources where she could seek professional assistance. A gymnast may deny that she volleyball drills a problem, but inside she may be pleading for help.

Where and How to Get Help

Consult with your doctor about clinics or hospitals in your area which specialize in the treatment of eating disorders. You may require both medical and psychological help, and engage in therapy with the whole family. You may also look at these resources:

1.) The Eating Disorders Association, Sackville Place, 44 Magdalen Street, Norwich, Norfolk NR3lJE. Telephone (0603) 621414. This is an umbrella organization which coordinates with a network of local groups run by former sufferers of anorexia and bulimia. It provides information, telephone help, and a newsletter. Send a sae for details of local groups.

2.) Overeaters Anonymous, PO Box 19, Stratford, Manchester M32 9EB. A self-help organization for men and women with eating disorders that makes use of a "12-step" recovery program patterned after Alcoholics Anonymous. They can put you in touch with the nearest of more than 100 groups nationwide.

There continues to be an increase in eating disorders among athletes, particularly among those who participate in sports that require a slight physique. Sports with a higher incidence of eating disorders include figure skating, gymnastics, dancing and synchronized swimming, as compared to that of basketball, volleyball and skiing. In a study undertaken by the American College of Sports Medicine in 1992, 62% of females in sports like gymnastics and figure skating had eating disorders.

Due to a desire to be thin, or to gain the approval of judges or their coach, many female athletes succumb to eating disorders. A majority of coaches can trigger the advent eating disorders by criticizing the athlete's weight, or pressuring them to take off some pounds. This type of treatment results in the athlete resorting to unhealthy eating habits and crash diets which may have adverse effects both physically and emotionally.

Athletes are under constant pressure to remain thin, especially in sports which specialized in aesthetic and technical skills. This is because most judges consider body weight as one of the factors in deciding aesthetic score. Christy Henrich, a world class gymnast, was once criticized by a judged in a 1998 Budapest competition, as being too fat and needed to lose weight in order to make the Olympic team. Henrich turned to anorexia and bulimia as a way to lose weight. At one point, she actually weighed a mere 47 lbs. Eventually, her eating disorders caused her death. Christy Henrich succumbed to multiple organ failure on July 26, 1994 at the age of 22.

Having an eating disorder poses a danger to athletes as they are more prone to acquire medical complications like electrolyte imbalances and cardiac arrhythmias. A very minimal calorie intake coupled with strenuous physical activities puts their bodies through considerable stress. Like Christy Henrich, they are at higher risk for cardiac arrest. It is difficult trying to convince gymnasts to acknowledge that they have eating disorders because they view extreme loss of weight as beneficial to their athletic performance.

Looking at gymnasts body sizes through the years, the dramatic plunge in weight and body mass went from a standard height of 5'3" and a weight of 105 lbs. in 1976, to a staggeringly stunted 4'8" and 88 lbs. in 1992. It is fortunate that the organizations heading international gymnastics have set out to contain this alarming trend. They have decreed that 16 is the minimum age for girls to participate in International Gymnastics. At present, girls in competition have healthier weights and mass.

The need to educate parents, coaches and trainers becomes even more apparent, as they need to be aware whether the child has developed an unhealthy obsession towards food, dieting and excessive exercising going beyond the call of her sport.

Part of the gymnastics training program should involve lecture sessions given by nutritionists to educate the young athletes on proper nutrition and why eating healthy is necessary to fuel a body undergoing such strenuous activities. It is also crucial that gymnasts who already have eating disorders are encouraged and supported to seek help, and that counseling be available to them when they do. Gymnasts who suffer from eating disorders need the assurance that they will not be subject to criticism or disparaging treatment if they come forward and acknowledge their need for help.

Girls High School Volleyball - Top 5 Physical Adjustments Freshmen Must Make to Play in College

Incoming high school volleyball players who transition into playing women's college volleyball often experience the culture shock that happens when volleyball drills tourist visits a foreign country. Here are 5 physical adjustments incoming college volleyball players should know to prepare for their first year as a women's college volleyball student athlete.

1. Incoming high school volleyball players must learn to adjust to the increased speed of the game in women's college volleyball.

Among top women's volleyball coaches interviewed by Volleyball magazine the number one adjustment incoming freshmen must make is to learn to readjust to the increased speed and tempo of the women's college volleyball game.

College players routinely practice how to accurately deliver a lower faster serve received pass, how to set a lower faster paced set, how to transition off the net faster, how to hit a lower, faster ball, how to defend a faster quicker set in college to compete in women's college volleyball.

Top college coaches highly recommend that freshmen learn to increase their speed to become faster athletes on the volleyball court. In women's college volleyball you're no longer playing with high school or club team friends you grew up with. Now you're playing with better players recruited from all over (and often outside) the U.S. To compete with and against taller, faster players incoming freshmen MUST increase their physical strength.

2. High school volleyball players must learn how to become physically stronger athletes in order to increase their vertical jump they have to develop, strengthen and build their leg and butt muscles.

To build and increase stamina, to give 100% effort in a 90" minute match college volleyball players must strengthen and build muscle. To concentrate and maintain the same focus in the 35th minute of a volleyball match that you had in the 10th minute- you can't be tired so you have to build muscle to keep up your strength. And in order to run and dive after a ball in the 5th match with the same energy and accuracy you used in the first match once again it takes muscle and strength.

3. High school volleyball players must learn to adjust to the higher intensity and frequency of women's college volleyball practices.

As one member of a large incoming class of freshmen and sophomores recruited from all over the U.S. to play volleyball at the University of Tennessee Knoxville it was quite a shock for all of us to have 3 practices a day during our two week preseason practices. That's 3 practices a day plus weights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays or sprints on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sleep was optional. Okay just kidding about sleep being optional volleyball drills nowadays I believe women's volleyball athletic teams can only practice 2 times a day during preseason and a limited amount of hours of practice in season.

The intensity of women's college volleyball is high also because better players are competing among themselves to win a starting position on their team. If you want to play at game time you are going to have to earn your spot pushing yourself 100% every day and in every moment you can.

4. In women's college volleyball there's always a big(ger) block.

In girl's high school volleyball the big girl in the middle is obviously the tallest one on the team but in women's college volleyball many times the "big" girl is replaced by an even taller girl. Very simple math the big girl is transferred to the outside and the "bigger" girl is usually moved to the middle.

I was a 5'11" middle blocker all through high school but I was moved to the left as an outside hitter and replaced in the middle by a 6'1 Texan and a 6'3 Alaskan. Now there's a front row or a team full of mostly big girls who present a bigger block which freshmen hitters have to learn to hit over, hit by or hit past.

5. In women's college volleyball incoming freshmen players need to develop characteristics necessary to give 110% in volleyball practice or a volleyball game.

In women's volleyball you are required to focus, concentrate and play hard all the time. For most freshmen it takes a period of time for the brain and body to develop so they react and respond at faster and higher BUT controlled (and comfortable) intensity levels.

The body and brain need to adapt to new stress levels, new pressures, new speeds and once it does a player becomes comfortable playing at that new level.

Basic Volleyball Rules - Second Referee Responsibilities

The second referee, also known as the R2, has many officiating responsibilities. Learning and mastering these basic volleyball volleyball drills and techniques will help your volleyball matches move along better.

Prematch duties

The second referee is in charge of the game ball. The second referee ensures the game ball is ready before the start of the match. A ball pressure gauge should be used to check the game ball pressure.

Attend the captains meeting.

The second referee should attend the captains meeting. The second referee should inform the scorekeeper of the result of the captains meeting coin toss.

Time the pre-match warm up.

The second referee should have a watch or stop watch to time the pre-match warm up. The second referee should manage the court by directing the teams on and off the court at the correct time intervals.

Collect team line ups.

The second referee should collect the teams line up sheets from the coaches before the match.

Check each team line up.

The second referee should check each team lining up on the court before the start of each game.

Identify team captains.

The second referee identifies the team captains and signals to the first referee.

Mechanics

The second referee should be watching the receiving team before the serve for out of rotation violations. It's the second referees responsibility to call overlaps on the receiving team.

Except for the service beckon, whenever the first referee whistles, the second referee should mimic the first referees hand signals.

Hand signals should be sharp and clear. When signaling, the second referee should step out away from the pole so the first referee can clearly see the signals.

It is the second referees responsibility to whistle timeouts and substitutions.

For timeouts, the second referee whistles, makes the timeout signal, then signals to the first referee how many timeouts each team has taken. For substitutions, the second referee whistles, makes the substitution signal, then communicates to the scorekeeper the substitutes. Once the scorekeeper is ready, the second referee signals to the first referee to begin play.

The second referee is also responsible for signaling the end of the time period between games.

Along with timeouts and substitutions, the second referee needs to blow the whistle for net violations, centerline violations, the ball hitting the antenna, the ball hitting any object outside the antenna, and the ball crossing the net outside the antenna.

The second referee should also blow the whistle and stop play if a player runs into a nonplayable adjacent court, a player steps into a nonplayable area and plays a ball while not being in contact with the playing surface, or an object such as a ball from another court interferes with play.

The second referee should communicate effectively with the scorekeeper. The second referee should be assertive while at the same time approachable.

The second referee should transition from one side of the court to the other side when the ball is in play. The second referee should try to stay on the defensive teams side of the court watching both sides of the court with emphasis on watching the play at the net for net violations and centerline violations.

Teamwork

The second referee should have good eye contact with the first referee helping them out the best they can. Before the start of the match, the first and second referee should have a discussion on exactly how they are going to help out one another. It is the first referees responsibility to whistle a ball handling violation such as prolonged contact or double contacts, the ball hitting the court, 4 team contacts, illegal back row attacks, and illegal back row blocks.

Judgement

If the first referee desires, it's the second referees responsibility to discreetly signal (not whistle) ball handling or illegal contacts. Discreetly signaling the first referee can be important when the first referee is screened out of the play. For example, the first referee could miss a ball clearly contacting the floor if a player is between the ball and the first referee. In this situation, the second referee can discreetly signal to the first referee the ball hitting the floor. The first referee may even desire for the second referee to whistle. Discussing referee mechanics and what to do in these situations before the start of the match will likely help things run more smoothly.

Court Management

The second referee should anticipate, recognize, and administer substitutions.

It's the second referees responsibility to communicate with the team volleyball drills during play. For example, if the coach is requesting a timeout or substitution, it's the second referee's responsibility to take control.

The second referee should also be scanning the court and team bench area during play and in between plays. For example, if a ball rolls onto the court interfering with play, the second referee should be ready to blow the whistle and stop play.

The World's Five Worst Olympic Countries

1. Cuba- Drugs & Scandals

Unfortunately, Cuba is already a nightmare in the Olympic Movement. Why? Since 1964, Cuba has produced athletes with a huge superiority complex and strong anti-American feeling. They have showed this anti-Olympic feeling many times. Angel Volodia Matos Fuentes, a Cuban taekwondo athlete, is the only athlete in the Olympic history that has hit a referee. This sportsman kicked a referee in the face after he lost a match at the 2008 Olympics. "We didn't expect anything like what you have witnessed to occur. I'm at a loss for words. This is an insult to the Olympic vision, an insult to the spirit of taekwondo and, in my opinion, an insult to mankind", said Yang Jin-suk (World Taekwondo Federation secretary). Angel won a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games in 2000.

In Atlanta in 1996, the Cuban's women's volleyball team quarreled with the Brazilian team during the semi-finals. This is why Regla Radameris Torres Herrera, who has received several offers to become a top fashion model in Italy, was suspended and could not play for several months. Cuban players of women's volleyball are famous for their aggressiveness against rivals.

Cuba's Javier Sotomayor Sanabria will be remembered as one of the worst examples in the world sports community. In 1988, Prensa Latina -Cuban news agency- announced that in its annual poll of sportswriters Javier Sotomayor was named "Cuban Athlete of the Year". He beat out Felix Savon (boxing), Jorge Fis (Judo), and Ana Fidelia Quirot (track & field). Javier, known as "Soto", was one of the most successful athletes in the history of the Cuban Revolution.

On September 8, 1988, Javier -whose country had boycotted the Summer Olympics in 1988- set a world record in the high jump. A year later he set another world record (2.45 m / 8' 1/2"). Under the direction of Jose Godoy, a Soviet-educated professor, he won almost all his competitions in the 1990s.

In 2001, Javier Sotomayor, in one of a series of exhibitions tournaments, tested positive for a muscle-building steroid. "The decision to let him compete again is like a hit in my face", said Arne Ljungqvist (vice president of the IAAF).Two years ago, Javier also had tested positive for drugs at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg (Canada). However, he had been exonerated by the Cuban Olympic Committee. Furthermore, Fidel Castro Ruz -Cuba's dictator- denied that Javier had taken cocaine. In an article in Granma (Communist party daily), Javier said " I'm innocent. I have only seen that substance in the movies. Im the victim of maneuver, a dirty trick".

Unlike Ben Johnson and Linford Christie, Javier received a special treatment by the IAAF. He was banned by the IAAF for only 11 months. Thanks to this, Javier Sotomayor could compete at the 2000 Olympics, where he won a silver medal. Three European countries, Norway, Finland and Denmark, criticized this controversial decision. "If you test positive and get suspended, you shouldn't get a reduced sentence just because you're a famous track athlete", said Patrick Sjoberg, a former world record holder in men's high jump.

2. Myanmar- Sports & Dictatorships

Olympic sport can unify a country like Myanmar -an Asian country which has many ethnic conflicts. However, it -pop. 52 million- has one of the world's worst Olympic teams. In the last fifty years, three dictatorships have destroyed the Olympic spirit in this land of friendly people. For unknown reasons, Myanmar did not compete at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Canada. In 1980, Sue Khin finished in 47th place in the marathon at the Moscow Summer Games. Four years later, Myanmar -it officially changed its name from Burma in 1989- sent 1 athlete (boxer) to Los Angeles (USA). In 1996, Myanmar was represented by only 3 athletes (athletics and shooting).

At the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar, Myanmar finished 27th in the unofficial team standings (behind China, Bahrain, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Jordan, Lebanon, etc). In an interview, Khin Maung Lwin, secretary of the Myanmese Olympic Committee, said "Our NOC has worked in close collaboration with the respective national sports federations to make all the necessary preparations for participation in Doha 2006. We have selected the athletes who showed their best form and achieved top results from that 23rd SEA Games for the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006. As a founding member of the Asian Games Federation in 1949 and the Olympic Council of Asia, we believe the Asian Games is a very important tool for the development of the youth of Asia and for the promotion of international respect, friendly and goodwill..."

3. Albania - Enver Hoxha's Legacy

What is the reason why Albania does not produce world-class athletes? Albania is well-known for its indifference to sports. It is one of the few European countries that have not Olympic champions. Albania was one of the most unsuccessful countries at the 2008 Summer Olympics in the People's Republic of China.

Like Mao Tse-tung (Chinese dictator, 1949-1976) and Pol Pot (Cambodian tyrant, 1975-1979), Enver Hoxha did not support friendly relations with the volleyball drills Olympic Committee. From 1950 to 1985, Enver Hoxha -one of the bloodiest dictators of the 20th century- gained a reputation as an anti-Olympic leader in the world. During his Maoist dictatorship, Albania boycotted seven Olympic Games (Rome '60, Tokyo '64, Mexico City '68, Montreal '76, Moscow '80, Los Angeles '84, Seoul '88), seven Mediterranean Games (Beirut '59, Naples '63, Tunis '67, Izmir '71, Algiers '75, Split '79, Casablanca '83) and other international events (Winter Games, World University Games, World championships, European tournaments). In 1985, two weightlifters had defected to Yugoslavia (currently Serbia).

Since 1991, the new government does not have interest in sports and recreation. This European nation is losing its best athletes, who are choosing to live abroad, and not returning to Albania. Many Greeks athletes have Albanian descent: Leonidas Sampani (weightlifting), Sawa Lika (track and field), Pyrro Dimas (weightlifting / Olympic champion, 1992, 1996, 2000), Mirela Manjani (athletics). At the World Championships in 2003, Mirela won a gold medal. Albania has been a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1959.

4.Taiwan is not Ethiopia

Who was the last world-class athlete of Taiwan? Her name: Chi Cheng (1959-1972). This Olympic ambassador has been called "the Eastern Flying antelope". At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City, in October, she, who studied and trained in California, won a bronze medal in the 80 meter low hurdles. Two years later, she broken the world records in the 100m (11,00 seconds) and 200m (22,44 seconds) in July 1970, but she failed in the Olympic Games in 1972. Unexpectedly, she had an injury. Chi Cheng was the favorite to win the gold medal in the 200m. To prepare for the Munich Games, she competed in Asia, Europe and the United States. In 1972, she announced that she was retiring from athletics. In 1971, she was elected "World Athlete of the Year" by the Associated Press. In this election, she beat Edson Arantes do Nascimento, one of the greatest athletes of all time. Since 1972, Taiwan continues to celebrate Chi Cheng's world records.

Unfortunately, Taiwan can not produce world-class athletes.

This Asian country -also known as ROC, Chinese Taipei, Republic of China on Taiwan or Free China- has 10,000 stadiums, 1,850 swimming pools, 1,420 tennis courts, 14,252 sports parks, more than 762 gymnasiums, nearly 9,100 basketball and handball courts, and 87 cycling tracks. With more than double the budget of Jamaica, Ethiopia and North Korea, Taiwan only has won two gold medals (1960-2008). At the 1996 Games, Chinese-Taipei sent 71 athletes and won one silver medal (tennis table).

They have not learnt the experience of South Korea, whose athletes have won 85 gold medals-its best unconventional diplomacy in the world. A good example for a country which does not have full diplomatic relations with 180 nations. Chinese Taipei -one of the developing world's most successful democracies- is only recognized by 23 countries: Belize, Burkina Faso, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Gambia, Guatemala, Holy See, Haiti, Honduras, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Solomon Islands, Sao Tome & Principe, Swaziland, Tuvalu.

5. Iceland- A country without Olympic Champions

Iceland - a nation in the North Atlantic near the Arctic Circle- has never won an Olympic medal in the Winter Games. It is one of the oldest Olympic countries in the world (IOC member since 1921). Ranked by the United Nations as one of the richest countries in the world, Iceland has several sports facilities- indoor stadiums, winter Olympic arenas, sports parks and swimming pools. Many people can not believe that one of the richest nations in Europe can not win a winter Olympic medal. Unlike Iceland, Liechtenstein -an area the size of District of Columbia- has won two Olympic titles and 58 World championships. Iceland -it is slightly larger than South Korea- took part in 15 editions of the Winter Games between 1948 and 2006. Glma, a traditional wrestling, is the national sport of Iceland.

Vibrational Healing - How Water, Sea Salts, and Colloidal Silver Can Heal Most Anything, Part One

Within this life experience, I have been gifted with the infinite gifts volleyball drills illnesses, diseases and syndromes that conventional medicine has diagnosed the physical body of which my soul resides in with. These have included: A heart murmur at birth, continuous strep throat infections (which resulted in the tonsils being removed in one of the NTHE, Near Transitional Home Experiences that I experienced), mononucleosis as a teenager, asthma (with an attack so severe I experienced another NTHE while pregnant with our second son Matthew due to lack of oxygen), bronchitis, allergies to what the physical body was classified with as being allergic to everything under the sun also resulting in nasal and sinus issues and the having of the nose cauterized, two volleyball drills surgeries on the right knee, one tubal pregnancy (right tube) and three other miscarriages, PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), fibrocystic breasts, a ruptured ovarian cyst. endometriosis, kidney stones (with 2 lithotripsys for this), continuous kidney and bladder infections, liver and gallbladder issues with gallstones having the gallbladder removed in September 2005 during which I experienced another NTHE, and being diagnosed by conventional medicine with lupus both forms with the rashes and attacks of the major organs and so on (which conventional medicine says is the cumulative diagnosis for all of these illnesses, diseases, and syndromes that they originally diagnosed the physical body with) and a rare blood disorder in which the physical body clots on the inside (which conventional medicine tells me that is what they believe causes the endometriosis) and bleeds profusely on the outside when the body receives a cut (thus two being as one), both of which are fatal they say. In addition in this life, the physical body of which my soul resides in has experienced two herniated discs in the back, carpal tunnel in the arms and hands, numerous severe ankle sprains, a benign breast cyst, a bone spur on the bottom of the left heal, an injury to the head by a golf club, and a severely sprained right wrist from playing volleyball.

In total, I have died ten times thus far in this life experience. Nine of those have occurred through various surgeries, medical procedures, and a severe asthma attack. Each physical body surgery procedure I have experienced has induced some form of what is known on this earth dimension as flat lining or physical body death. I have come to see these transformations for the gifts that they are. I know that I have chosen each of these events to impart infinite spiritual messages of soul rememberings of who I am choosing to be within each moment while here playing this game called LIFE (living infinitely from experience). I am the soul I am in this moment because of these life experiences. These transformative life experiences have brought me to learnings and soul rememberings that have brought me to a place of peace and learnings through research and degree studies. So this wisdom that I share comes both from personal physical and spiritual experience and research.

As these learnings and rememberings are all one, I have come to remember, embrace, and treasure the infinite paths that bring us into peace here on this earth. I have embraced the studies of the shamanic path in its connection to our spiritual path through several spiritual mentors. I have collaborated with other mentors and within what are considered here on this earth dimension as a self-learner, to learn of vibrational healing medicine, of aromatherapy, of herbology, and a plethora of soul rememberings and earth dimensional learning modalities. It was while studying for the masters degree in vibrational medicine and the learning about herbology that I was gifted with the amazing wisdom that is written.

The Physical Body Basis for Diseases, Illnesses, Syndromes, and Disorders

There are several physical reasons for diseases, illnesses, syndromes, and disorders. One of them relates to food and water. The physical body and spiritual soul can if we so choose, live on our respiration, our breath. The other component that the spiritual soul and physical body can choose to live on is that of water. These two items together (two being as one) along with sea salts, is what can sustain us within this life experience if we choose. The physical body is made of 90% water. Water is a natural antihistamine and natural diuretic. Why do we need to replace fluids excreted from the body by drinking plenty of water? This is because approximately three pints of water per earth dimensional day are excreted through the kidneys, approximately one pint of water per earth dimensional day is excreted through the skin in perspiration, and another yet another pint is expelled through respiration. As such, the organs, everything within the physical is water or has a component of water within it. Also, spiritually speaking our spirits, our souls are made of a crystalline like substance that is water.

Respiration and water are in infinite supply and are always, in all ways, with us and within us. The molecules and atoms of everything and anything are components of water and air. I invite you to place our hands and move them slowly in a fluidity of motion around the air in the room. As we do this physical motion, we are moving through molecules of water and air. Utilizing our breath and the water that surrounds us is about absorbing nutrients from the air the physical body breathes and the molecules of water absorbed through the fluidity of our movements as physical human forms. Nutrients we absorb from the air and water through the skin, the eyes, the hair all have the ability to nourish and center the physical body of which our soul resides within. As a physical being we incarnate with and within air and water.

The utilizing of the breath of LIFE (living infinitely from experience) and of water, two being as one, is accomplished through a rewiring of the physical biochemistry, the rewiring of the thoughtenergy axioms that we all choose to illusionarily hold onto as so to be free from every questioning, free from ever exploring any other of the infinite possibilities. As physical beings, we consist of air and water. Imagine the physical body as a plant. Plants absorb moisture and nutrients from sunlight, air, and water. To rewire the physical body to be as a plant, we are invited to shift the axioms of who we believe we are to the inner wisdom that water and the air we breathe can sustain us. Within coming into a resonance of living off of our breath and of water comes with the physical praxis that we are until we believe, see, feel, and be that we are. As with anything that the human physical form chooses to be habitual form with, it takes the illusion of earth dimensional time for the physical body brain to resonate within a shifting paradigm, because as physical human forms we use praxis to shift the physical body into resonance with that the soul already knows we ARE - a revolving experience of. If we are to be within choosing to live from breath and water, then we are invited to choose to slowly reduce the amount of food we choose to eat as we feel intuitively ready to, while being in praxis of the thoughtenergy within our thoughts, within our living that the air we breath and the water we drink is infinitely enough to sustain our life and that we are infinitely full from the nutrients we take in from the air we breathe and the water we drink. That anything, everything, and all we ever need to sustain us is within these things.

This is something that I am in current praxis (or practice) with and discovering that I am eating what is called within earth dimensional amounts is less and less food. This is why when we come closer to the shifting from the physical body into spiritual soul being (or dying as we call it) that we tend to eat less food and rely upon the air we breathe and the water we drink to sustain the physical body that the soul resides in. The air in our respiration, bringing us in a constant resonance of being in spirit and being connected to, for, of, and with and the water that we drink and absorb within all that surround us, then is our food.

Resonance With All That We Drink and Eat

Until such a moment as we choose this path of water and the breath of Life as One to be an infinite possibility, we can choose to sustain the physical body within the combination of food and water. The media and conventional medicine doctors are always saying drink water. There is something to this and here is why. Many of us are unconscious to that the physical body is in a constant state of dehydration. This is why we see the illusions of what we call here as being overweight, illnesses such as Asthma, sinus issues, ADD (as a person who is gifted with the earth name of ADD or ADHD are within a resonance of an alternative dimensional download and of alternative dimensional heartbeat download, as in these souls dial into the heartbeat of the universe of infinite dimensions, infinite universes, and infinite parallel universes, including this earth dimension to bring forth and gift us with the infinite wisdom of the universe), cancer, and the plethora of names for diseases, illnesses, disorders, and syndromes. Suffering occurs and is associated with dehydration of the physical body.

This is also too why we age so rapidly and produce within the body of age-related diseases such as: osteoarthritis, wrinkles, high blood pressure, and infinitely other what we call as age-related diseases. These are free from being age-related as they are really dehydration-related manifestations. We can live to be quite an old age and be free from diseases if we are to drink an infinite supply of what the physical body is asking for in water and take in sea salts. Thereby, this is what is known here on this earth dimension as the secret fountain of youth. The fountain of youth is free from being discovered within this earth dimensions ideas of a bottle of age defying makeup or some diet or pills, but through a way of being that we all have been looking for. The ego self of the soul believes that the fountain of youth as something to be discovered, and is to be discovered out there, that we must search for it. However, we are free from having to search for it or having to discover it out there as it is already and always, always ready and in all ways, with us and within us. This is why we see souls on this earth appear to be ageless or living within the physical body for many earth dimensional years, as these souls have embraced the fountain of youth in that although this earths concept of time seems to move fast or at the same pace, these souls experience a slowing of movement as they have stepped into spiritual oneness multi dimensionality and because of the water, sea salts, and shifting of who they are to bring about peace, absoulute love, and bliss within their lives.

Now I say this free from the idea that we are in this physical body is going to live forever, or that we will in our older years be free from the concept known as pain; as clearly these things are possible for the machine called physical body may at some moment be physically worn and this is when we will transform like that of a butterfly. However, we can prosper within vitality and Infinite Well BEing as the physical body earth dimensionally ages, simply from drinking of the source of that of which we are water.

The reason for this occurring is that, during the process of dehydration, the physical body takes what is known as desperate measures to conserve water. Part of dehydration also involves the release of histamine which is critical to activate and maintain other systems of the physical body which are designed to save body water. These systems keep water in the body even if the body is free from any presence of water that we have yet to ingest. If the body is free from receiving water being ingested by us physically, it will then utilize the water that is within the organs and systems of the body to keep itself replenished. The body will seek to drawn from any stored up urine and feces that has yet to be expelled initially and then the body will continue by obtaining water for hydration from the liver, gallbladder, heart, and any other organ it can extract water from to ensure the physical bodys survival. As water is being depleted and excreted through when we urinate and defecate, if we continue to replace these fluids with something other than water, a state of continuous dehydration in the physical body occurs. This is the cause then of what we call as symptoms associated with what are known on this earth dimension as diseases, illnesses, disorders, and syndromes.

The amount of water we drink in relation to the food that we eat that creates the physical manifestation of what we call a clogged physical body system. Water flushes out the food we eat and is cleansing the physical body in an infinite cyclical process. Up to fifty percent of the water that we drink each earth dimension day is needed is due the digestion of and processing of food we are eating. Thus if we are drinking this earth dimensions amount of more juice, coffee, soda and so on than water and/or eating more than the body has of water within it, the physical body is then in a resonance of chronic dehydration. If a soul chooses to be free from eating or eats small amounts of food daily living off of water, sunlight, spiritual light, and air, then less water may be needed as one is free from needing as much water for physical digestion.

The reason that on this earth dimension we call the food and drink we absorb as toxins within the physical body is simply that believe they are toxins or toxic. For as much as many souls, including conventional medicine, are in axiom with that food and drink themselves are toxic or are toxins, the food and drink we take within us is free from being toxic themselves, it is simply that because when we incarnate we come into this earth with water, air, and spiritual light as our sources of nourishment as this is who we are. When we are physically born in this manner this is what the pure essence is of who we are as a soul in physical form. We receive nourishment through our mothers womb which consists of water that is extracted from within our mothers physical body as the water from within the physical body when it is completely hydrated sustains the babys physical body and soul. If a mother is free from being completely hydrated, the baby will use water from other sources in the mothers physical body, as well as, what is extracted from the food and drink the mother ingests, to nourish itself. This is why when a mother soul is pregnant, we believe that she requires more food to feed the growing life inside her during gestation, when it is really water and that of sea salts that the physical body is asking the mother to drink to sustain the child and the possible water and oxygen within the food that she eats to be extracted to sustain the child. Therefore, it is the water and the oxygen that the baby needs rather than the substance of the food itself. For the mother morning sickness is the very first sign of dehydration in the mother and the baby, brought about by the water regulatory action of histamine.

Thus, when we take within the physical being that which is something other than what we emanate from, that being of water, air, and spiritual light, it is the left over remnants after excreting this water, air, and spiritual light from this left over remnant matter of what we call here on this earth as food, that is the perceived toxins of which is to be flushed out. Therefore, the food itself if free from being good or bad, right or wrong, healthy or unhealthy, good for you or bad for you, toxic or nontoxic. It is simply remnants to be flushed out once the physical body has extracted all it chooses to for nourishment.

Since the physical body is comprised of ninety percent water, then this is what the physical body is inviting of us to drink to sustain it. Conventional medicine says that eight to ten, 8 ounce glasses of water is what will assist the fluidity of the physical body to sustain itself. If we are physically active this can be more. By drinking half of the physical bodys weight of water in ounces each earth dimension day is really what the physical body is asking us for to keep it adequately hydrated. An example of this would be if we weigh 150 pounds then 150 lbs would equal 75 ozs. of water daily. Divide that into 8 oz. glasses and this then is how many glasses we are being invited by the physical body to drink, daily. In addition to this daily amount of water to keep the physical body hydrated, then add double the amount of water for every 8 oz. glass that we choose to drink of juice, coffee, soda, tea etc. An example of this would be if we drink an 8 oz. can of soda, then we would drink 16 ozs. of water, in addition to the daily water intake for the physical bodys hydration of half the amount of the physical bodys weight, to adequately flush the food out of the physical body and also hydrate the body in the process. If eating food, add double the water for every ounce of food consumed, in addition to the daily water intake for the physical bodys hydration of half the amount of the physical bodys weight, to adequately flush the food out of the physical body and also hydrate the body in the process. An example of this would be if we choose to eat a 12 oz steak, then we would need 24 ozs. of water to adequately flush the food out of the physical body and also hydrate the body in the process. It can then take up to thirty-two ounces of water to completely flush out of the physical body that eight ounces of soda, juice, coffee, other sugary drink, or food eaten.

Within water being our primary source of replenishment, if we choosing to drink juice, soda or other sugary drinks that are comprised more of sugar than of water, we are then physically depriving the physical body that our soul resides within a basic component for its physical survival. I know for me personally, when what conventional medicine calls a headache is within the physical body that my soul resides in, to me that is a signal that I am being invited to drink water and breath in deeply. Upon doing so the conventional medicine name called a headache is free from being. This is because I take a moment to be in tuned with the physical body to know that it was inviting me to drink water and breathe deeply as this is the message that came through upon going within. To be continued in part two.

6 Easy Ways To Increase Vertical Jump

Whether you've undergone a physical exam for an athletic team or experienced a session of bragging rights amongst friends, the subject of vertical jumping is one that also enhances the overall performance level in basketball, football, volleyball, and track and field. When interested, there are plenty of ways to increase vertical jump, as there are many advantages, including enhanced participation in sporting volleyball drills and recreational competition.

While some people believe vertical leaps are solely based upon leg strength and muscles, an assortment of additional body parts play an important role in vertical jumping. This means a training program focused on the legs, abdomen, and even the arms provides some of the best ways to increase vertical jump. Below volleyball drills will find a few suggestions to consider when you are interested in enhancing your impressive leap into the air:

Leap-ups: Standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, one should jump into the air while looking straight
ahead. Once they come down about of the way, they should immediately soar into the air. The purpose of this exercise is to train the muscles to better respond to the movements associated with jumping into the air. In the end, an improved vertical leap is the result.

Stretching: One of the lesser-known ways to increase vertical jump is through stretching, which provides an athlete with the flexibility needed to gracefully leap into the air.

Calf Raises: To start, place your heels over an object that permits them from touching the ground, such as a step or book. The object of the exercise is to go all the way up into the air and then slowly come down. First, complete the exercise using one leg and then switch to work out the other.

Step-Ups: With the help of a sturdy chair or bench, place one leg on the chair, and then push yourself off with the help of the other. While in the air, you should switch legs, putting the leg that was once on the ground onto the bench, and place the leg that was once the bench onto the ground. This exercise should involve a specific number of reps assigned for each leg.

Thrust-Ups and Burnouts: While standing with your feet shoulder-width apart, you should lock your knees and then jump up with just the help of your calves. When completing this exercise, you should only bend at the ankles. Once you land, you should immediately return to the upward position. Some people also choose whether or not to use their arms during this exercise. To complete burnouts, start in the same starting position as a thrust-up, where the toes are used to propel an individual into the air. This particular exercise focuses on jumping up by relying only on the toes and sides of the thighs.

Sit-Ups: In order to strengthen the abdominal core, sit-ups are considered one of the best exercises for
enhancing explosive energy and the stability necessary to increase vertical leap. While lying flat on your back, bend your knees and raise your torso to your knees (holding the position for a moment) before lowering the torso in a slow motion.

Additional Techniques: Athletes looking for more ways to increase vertical jump will find an assortment of
intriguing and challenging exercises to consider.A couple of recommendations include toe curls, box squats
with resistance bands, snatch grip deadlifts, reverse hyperextensions, weighted ab routine, and standing
backward medicine ball tosses.
